Hattie’s hum today is a little more serious than her usual content, but none the worse for that. She is, of course, a guide dog, not an emotional support dog, but she’s a sensitive soul and likes to give comfort where she can.
In her view, we silly humans take things far too seriously and should try to live more in the moment. She heard somewhere that we often lament the brevity of a dog’s lifespan, but she wonders if the reason we fail to embrace the here and now ourselves is because we live too long in a world that changes too rapidly for comfort. She considered putting that into today’s poem, but then thought better of it. She’ll save that for another day and another hum! Keep it simple, she says, and she probably has a good point.
